Read Heads:

The high-precision position encoding system is used in the automation of conveyor systems where shuttle cars and conveyor vehicles must be precisely positioned. The WCS can be used in a wide variety of applications, such as those where the code rail is interrupted by lane/position changes or in applications with curved and circular paths.

The read heads have internal light intensity control so they can reliably determine position values, even in difficult environmental conditions and despite contamination. RS-485, SSI, CANopen, PROFINET, or EtherNet/IP interfaces can be used to transmit data to the controller.

WCS Outdoor Option:

This read head with protective housing was specially developed for applications in challenging environments. Its rugged housing with IP69 protection makes the read head resistant to dust, moisture, and shock. This means it can also be used in environments with high-pressure cleaners or where the WCS comes into contact with substances such as saltwater, acids, and alkalis.

In case of malfunction, easy maintenance of the WCS read head is possible because the indicator LEDs and the display are easy to read through the translucent housing. If the system has to be installed in tight spaces, it is possible for the connection options to be flexibly arranged (connectors can be installed in three different locations).

WCS Display Option:

A seven-segment display is built into the read head. This allows the display to be easily rotated 180°, so whether the installation is hanging or standing, data is easily visible directly on the read head. . System setup and troubleshooting have also been simplified. The display can show the current position value and diagnostic functions, and can draw attention to dirty or damaged code rail segments.

WCS Extended Option:

If an application requires an especially long distance, the special WCS Extended version makes it possible to cover a distance of up to 629 m. Assembly and integration of the two standard code rail segments are flexible. The extended read head can read the extended distance without additional programming.

WCS Heating Option:

An integrated heating element permits an extended temperature range. Also available with the outdoor version, this enables the systems to be used in environments with temperatures as low as -40 °C. The combination of an integrated heating element, supplied via the read head, and a smooth housing surface make this possible. Commissioning in both ice and snow is also possible and protects against the risk of condensation (rapid temperature changes from cold to warm).

WCS Speed Option:

The WCS3B read head with speed output uses an additional switching output to signal that a speed limit has been exceeded.
